The Lillie Art Gallery is a purpose built gallery opened in 1962. It owes its existence to local banker and artist Robert Lillie (1867-1949), who left a substantial number of his own artworks as well as funds to build the gallery.
Since1962, this founding bequest of artworks has been developed to form a collection of Scottish art dating from the 1880s to the present day.
The Lillie Art Gallery is a purpose built gallery opened in 1962. The gallery is proud to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2012.
The collection includes paintings, prints, drawings and a small collection of sculpture and ceramics dating from the 1880s to the present day.
The gallery mounts a lively temporary exhibition programme, from contemporary Scottish artists to works from our collection.
Our children's Saturday morning art classes run during the winter and spring months and cater for children and young people from age 7 to 18.
