the athlete performance programme 2016

Improving Sporting Performance

The Athlete Performance Programme Explained

The athlete performance programme  was established to bridge the gap between the sportscotland Institute of Sport services (SIS) and services available to local regional or national club and school athletes. The APP supports youth athletes who have demonstrated potential for becoming high-performance athletes in the future. The athletes receive four hours of strength and conditioning training per week before school in two venues within the East Dunbartonshire area.

The APP helps elite athletes to improve performance through the delivery of Strength & Conditioning for young Athletes. The programme adopts a holistic approach to training centred on the concept of long-term athletic development and the welfare of the young Athlete.

A partnership with education allows the selected athletes to arrive late for school on S&C training days. A programme of educational workshops is also provided for athletes, sport specific coaches and parents.
