Children & Families

Your local libraries are full of resources and activities to enthuse children and young people of all ages. With a range of events and a huge collection there is always something to spark your imagination and keep you entertained.

For Babies and Toddlers

It's never too early to start sharing books with your little one! All our libraries host regular Bookbug Sessions and have hundreds of beautiful stories for you to discover together. Our Story Stars Sessions are designed to create a welcoming space for music, play, storytelling and meeting new friends.

For Children

We have books and resources to support readers of all levels: whether it's researching a school project or getting your hands on the latest bestseller. There are activities on after-school and during the holidays, as well as the opportunity to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge.

For Young People

On top of all the books, graphic novels and games on offer, your libraries are a space to study and relax too. Plus, our Digital library lets you access resources on your phone or tablet - and it's all free! We also have a fantastic group of young volunteers who help with activities, events and inspiring a love of reading in children. If you would like to get involved, check out our volunteering page for details.
