View all Historical RecordsEDLC's Archives & Local Studies Service collects and preserves the historical records of East Dunbartonshire, its people and organisations, for the benefit of current and future generations
EDLC's main family history sources are held by the Archives & Local Studies service at William Patrick Library (Kirkintilloch) and Bearsden Library. Our specialist staff can provide help and advice on using our collections for family history.
Local studies material documents the history and development of the East Dunbartonshire area, from the earliest times up to the present day.

A Wealth of Heritage
Explore the heritage of East Dunbartonshire – including Archives, Local Studies and Museum Collections, as well as the Lillie Art Gallery Collection. You can also find out more about exhibition spaces and projects.
A variety of objects from the Museum Collection are on permanent display at the Auld Kirk Museum and within the Heritage Centre at Kirkintilloch Town Hall. In addition, there are frequent exhibitions of artwork held in our permanent collection at the Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie.
We organise a wide variety of exhibitions within local venues throughout the year – showcasing local talents and welcoming works and artists from all over the world
EDLC is delighted to lead, and have led, a number of special cultural projects – exploring a range of subjects and inspiring creativity, conversations and interest locally.
Art Classes
We hold regular classes to help you explore your artistic side – whatever age you are and wherever you are on your creative journey – from novice to experienced. The Creative Arts Programme offers a wide range of courses, workshops and events for adults and young people – including painting, drawing, craft, pottery and more.
