About
This new theatre piece from Heroica Theatre Company sets out to unravel the knotty bond between the somewhat reckless private life of painter Pat Douthwaite (1934-2002) and her dramatic and often confrontational art works.
An artist of extraordinary and unique vision, she screamed out an uncompromising take on the human condition in works that were nothing short of genius. The art-loving public was by no means ready for such an aggressive and unbridled style as Douthwaite's, however, and - tragically - she saw scant proper recognition in her lifetime.
The production, integrating dialogues, images and music, will honour Pat Douthwaite - with the appreciation and understanding she so richly deserves. The play will pull no punches, so get ready for an astounding performance - that will certainly get you talking.
All performances to be followed by a Q&A with the actor and the writer.
